Temporary residence permit in the Kingdom for a long stay of 1 year (Long Stay O-A)
Visa issuance for foreigners aged 50 years or older who wish to travel to Thailand for leisure must meet the following qualifications:
- Foreigners of all nationalities aged 50 years or older (counting from the date of application).
- Must not be a person prohibited from entering the Kingdom.
- No history of being a threat to the security of Thailand or the country of nationality or residence.
- Must have nationality or permanent residence in the country where the application is submitted.
- Must not have any prohibited diseases according to Ministry Regulation No. 14 (B.E. 2535), including leprosy, tuberculosis in the infectious stage, elephantiasis, drug addiction, and syphilis in stage 3.
- Employment in Thailand is not permitted.
Visa Duration 90 days per entry.
Documents Required for Consideration:
- A passport that must be valid for at least 18 months.
- A visa application form with a photograph and 3 sets of a personal history form (forms can be obtained from the embassy or consulate).
- Financial evidence, such as a bank statement showing a balance of no less than 800,000 THB or an income/pension certification (original) showing an income of no less than 65,000 THB per month, or a combination of the bank account and income/pension (monthly x 12) totaling no less than 800,000 THB (if presenting a bank statement, an original letter from the bank must also be provided).
- A criminal record certificate from the country of nationality or from the country of residence (the certificate must be issued within the last 3 months).
- A medical certificate from the country of application stating that the applicant does not have any prohibited diseases according to Ministry Regulation No. 14 (B.E. 2535) (the certificate must be issued within the last 3 months).
If there is a desire to bring a spouse to reside in the Kingdom as well, and the spouse does not qualify for the “O-A” (Long Stay) visa, a marriage certificate must be presented. The spouse will be considered for a temporary visa type “O” valid for 3 months.
Additionally, proof of insurance (as stipulated by the Office of Insurance Commission) and a health insurance policy in Thailand are required, with coverage for outpatient treatment of no less than 40,000 THB and for inpatient treatment of no less than 400,000 THB.
